Montgomery County Community College, Acts Retirement-Life Communities Partner on Nationwide Degree Program June 22, 2017, Blue Bell/Pottstown, Pa.—Montgomery County Community College is partnering with the Acts Retirement-Life Communities, Inc. based in West Point, Pa. to provide Acts employees nationwide with the opportunity to earn an associate of applied science degree in Management with a concentration in Leadership through MCCC. Through the partnership, which will accept its first cohort of students in the fall, Acts employees who complete the Acts Leadership Academy and other internal training offered to employees will receive 7 credit hours toward the degree. They complete the remaining 55 credits hours through the College, either on location at the Acts Northeast Regional Office in Ambler, Pa., or through video conferencing to other Acts communities nationwide. The courses will also include an online component which will be delivered concurrently through MCCC’s learning management system. Acts has more than 6,000 employees in eight states including Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. According to Gaetan Giannini, Dean of Business and Entrepreneurial Initiatives at MCCC, Acts employees will be able to complete the program in less than two years. “The partnership with Acts is part of the College's continuing effort to collaborate with businesses and industries to help them develop and strengthen their workforces and contribute to the overall economic vitality of the region,” Giannini said. “Though Acts is based locally, it has a corporate signature along the Eastern seaboard which expands that reach and economic impact.” Jo Anne Hartman, Director of Workforce Development for Acts, said the company will select employees for the program, and will pay for their tuition. “Our goal is to retain and develop our most effective employees companywide, and providing educational opportunities for them to develop their leadership and management skills is one of the best ways to do that,” Hartman said. “We are excited to partner with Montgomery County Community College on this initiative and look forward to the first group of students starting in the fall.”
