9th Annual Purgrain Fanciers Show & Swap Meet On September 17, 2016 Purgrain hosted its 9th Annual Fanciers Show & Swap meet. Nearly 140 birds arrived for judging while many other birds were available for purchase. The show was held outside the facility where Purgrain is manufactured daily. Purgrain is shipped direct to customers in myriad states as well as to distributors from Maine to Florida. Eric Kooker, of the Reading (Pennsylvania) Pigeon Club judged the event. Ten birds per breed were required for the Best of Breed category to be judged. Top awards: • Best of Show, Reserve Two: Randy Doyle for his Chinese Owl $150 prize • Best of Show, Reserve One: Bob Bollinger for his Brunner Pouter $200 prize • Best of Show/Champion: Tim Matlack for his English Pouter $250 prize Selected Best of Breed awards: • Owl, Randy Doyle • Pouter, Tim Matlack • Tippler, Gerald Ford • Flight, Gerald Ford • Tumbler, Bob Bollinger • Homer, David Lindner • Any Other Variety, Jim Zook Many attended the event, not to show birds, but to swap birds, including a wide variety of breeds, as well as roosters and chickens. Local community residents also attended the event and enjoyed viewing the birds and the judging.
