Public Comment Sought During Commonwealth Disparity Study Public Meetings in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Harrisburg

1/11/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA

Harrisburg, PA – Small and small diverse business owners are encouraged to make their voices heard at three upcoming Commonwealth Disparity Study Public Meetings taking place in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Harrisburg January 17-19.

The public meetings are key components to the commonwealth’s first-ever statewide disparity study which was launched in May of 2017 and was expanded to include PennDOT’s transportation and infrastructure contracting. Results of the study will serve as an empirical basis for determining the extent to which small diverse businesses face discrimination in the state contracting process.

Small diverse businesses and disadvantaged businesses are businesses owned by minorities, women, veterans, disabled veterans, individuals with disabilities, and members of the LGBT community.
The public meetings provide a forum for small and small diverse businesses and disadvantaged businesses to learn more about the study process from the disparity study consultant; ask questions about the study; and provide public or private testimony on their experiences working in the state government contracting market. More meetings will be scheduled throughout the commonwealth.

Interested individuals can attend the following meetings:

• Wednesday, January 17, 2018; 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM at PennDOT Engineering District 5-0 Office, 1002 West      Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18101.
• Thursday, January 18, 2018; 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM at PennDOT Engineering District 6-0 Office, 7000 Geerdes Boulevard, King of Prussia, PA 119406.
• Friday, January 19, 2018; 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM at Dixon University Center, Administration Building, Conference Rooms A/B/C, 2986 North Second Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
For more information, contact the Bureau of Diversity, Inclusion and Small Business Opportunities at 717-705-5865 or PennDOT Bureau of Equal Opportunity at 1-800-468-4201.
